Ensemble HL7 ReSearch Tool

HL7 ReSearch is a very simple tool for dynamically searching HL7 messages in an instant.

By default Ensemble provides an excellent search facility for searching HL7 messages. To get the most out of the Ensemble search facility you need to pre-define and build indexes which can take time, expecially when you are in a hurry.

Sometimes you want to search for a message fast and you don’t have time to build a new index so you rely on a much slower brute force search, not ideal if you keep repeating this type of search. You could index everything in a message but this would take up considerable disk space and lower performance over time.

As a fast and simple solution to this we have developed the ReStart HL7 ReSearch tool. This simple tool is just 10k in size, is easy to install and requires little or no configuration. The first time you open the search page it will generate a google style search index of all messages within a defined window. This index takes little time to build and you can even search during this process.

Each time you visit the search page the index will keep itself up to date allowing you to immediately search on messages that have just passed through Ensemble.
